Micropigmentation, also known as cosmetic tattooing or permanent cosmetic makeup, is the art and science of implanting color into your skin. Putting the right color in the right place helps you to look your absolute best. We use specialized instruments to place color into the layer of skin known as the dermis. Because the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis, is always shedding and renewing itself, you are looking at the healed color through a thin veil of skin.
When your procedure is completed, the color in the top layer will flake off during the healing process. “Permanent Cosmetic Makeup” is not permanent. The color fades with time and the body removes some color. You will need to have a color boost every 1-3 years depending upon the colors used, your skin and the environment. In Texas, we have a lot of sunshine so brows fade faster than in Colorado. Relax and enjoy your new long lasting semi-permanent cosmetic makeup.
PREPARING FOR YOUR PERMANENT COSMETIC MAKEUP OR MICROBLADING PROCEDURE
It all starts with a good canvas! The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.
Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:
- Do not tint / wax / perform electrolysis one week before the procedure
- Do not tan two weeks prior or have a sunburned face
- Do not have any type of facial / peel 2 weeks prior to the procedure
- Discontinue Vitamin A / Retinol products 1 month prior to procedure
- Do not work out the day of the procedure
- Do not have Botox 3 weeks prior
- Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E 1 week prior (natural blood thinners)
In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:
- Do not drink alcohol 24-48 hours before your tattoo
- Do not consume coffee before your procedure
- Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)
